Excel specifications and limits

※ Download: Max rows in excel 2010

Having larger worksheet sizes just for 64-bit Excel would cause all sorts of document compatibility issues. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc. Or, if less experienced users need to access your worksheet, limiting where they can go will keep them from getting lost in the empty rows and columns that sit outside the data area. To temporarily disable scrolling below a specific row, you must edit the VBA properties of the spreadsheet.

Don't select a single cell in the row accidentally. Welcome to the MrExcel board! This number of rows can be saved in the default format that version of Excel supports e.

If the cells had 5 or 6 chars you may get to the max but if the cells contained 30 to 50 chars that is a lot more data. In that case you may not get to the max unless you have 32g of ram. It's all conditional to the data and cell size. Links are apparently dead. A1048576 then saving to XLS format will cause a warning. Thanks for all your suggestions sorry not to have responded sooner, but I've been away. Max rows in excel 2010 2016 offers the Large Address Aware functionality that lets 32-bit Excel 2016 consume twice the memory when users work on a 64-bit Windows operating system. This answer, though it does in fact provide most of the information, indicates the limitations of Excel, and not of the supported file formats xls or xlsx.
